I have just completed 6 weeks minding three boisterous hunting dogs in Turkish North Cyprus. Now I am off to France to mind 11 cats and 3 chickens in the Midi Pyrenees. I am looking for a short term housesit for another month after that before I go home to Australia in November."

We have had good success with your site. We are currently on assignment in the South of France in Albi, France as a result of your postings.

We have been here since August 2010 and we are enjoying it immensely. Our girls are in French school.

It is a little tough for us since we have 2 daughters now ages 13 and 9. So we have missed out on some assignments because of it. Usually because there is not enough space to accommodate us. The house in France is large with 7 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms on 3 different levels. It has worked out for us. We are completing our assignment within one month and are hoping to find something else.

Aussie Housesitters tidytravellers secure 5 House sits through Europe

Hi
We would like to say a big thanks for your service . We planned a year away from our home in Queensland to travel Europe and have managed to secure 5 great house-sits over 6 months in total , in 3 different areas in France , Suffolk in England and currently a beautiful spot in Perthshire in the Scottish Highlands .

Our experiences have been all positive , the homes all lovely , the pets have been a highlight and we've met great people .

The care of the pets is a huge responsibility and our only suggestion would be that the home owners let the house-sitters know in advance if a pet is old/ill or likely to pass away as happened in one of our sits and was pretty traumatic as we only found out about the situation on arrival at the house-sit .

We plan to return home in July and hope to use your great service to find house-sits in Australia and New Zealand . Thanks again for enabling us to travel and meet great people .

Housesit details:

I live in southwest France, in the last street on the edge of the very pleasant and historic city of Angoulême. The house (small, 3 bedrooms) has a biggish garden front and back, mostly grass and fruit trees. Cross the road, and you have immediate access to miles and miles of open country with footpaths. I have one friendly Jack Russell, Oliver, and two cats whom you may not see much of except at mealtimes. the bus stops outside my gate to go into Angoulême centre, where there are all the shops you could possibly want, and there's a hypermarket 5 mins away by car. Angoulême is handy for visiting Cognac, la Rochelle, Poitiers, the Dordogne, etc., and has an equestrian centre, aquacentre, canoeing/kayaking, and just behind my house (where children would be welcome if they're dog- trained) there's a park with kids' games, attainable on foot and wihout going on the road. Oh, and I have both British and French TV! I had a housesitter in the summer and we were both very satisfied with the arrangement, and I am now looking for someone to live here for 10 - 12 days over Christmas/New Year while I visit my daughters and new granson in England
